On a whim we bought a Porsche. And granted, not much you can do with it without getting radical! But...we are getting radical! With a bad IMS bearing, already, we opted to drop a turbo K24 engine in this beast...and are going to make it even better than Porsche imagined!
Vince Gill-Cuffaro
...and this one is no different. Last year we had to put our little kitty Poe down, in March. Christine's mom died in...March. So this year we hoped for the best. Bought a 'like new' 2005 911 Carrera S and just wanted to DRIVE it instead of it being a garage queen....and lo and behold, a short 4 weeks later? Engine gone! Dreaded IMS bearing failure...
But with lemons, I try and make lemonade. And in this case am making the car into something even better...faster...stronger and MORE FUN!
We tossed around a few ideas. One being a new engine from Porsche, but NOT for that amount and to have the same issue in the future? No thanks. Or maybe a small block LS 6.2L swap?? Would sound amazing and be fast as.....
Nah...how about! We go back to my roots in motorsports/racing! Let's do a K series swap! Super reliable, affordable, FAST!....putting a big turbo on it and making some trick custom stuff!
Anyway....here is the page for all of it! So check back often as it's going to be a doozy!
This is a RBB3 motor. Meaning larger intake valves, 36mm vs the standard 35mm....and VTEC on BOTH cams vs the newer engines have an economy VTEC on just the intake cam. Stock internals....because it's a Honda!
Using the high output Aerlight turbo on this beast pushing just about 450hp into that motor!
Reconfiguring the ENTIRE ECU to run the car, every part of it. Custom wiring and all being fed by Haltech.
To do this K swap we need to remove the triptronic tranny, which wasn't that great anyway, for a quick shifting 6 speed! Looking forward to this one!
I've always wanted PracWorks carbon parts in the past on my Honda builds and never had any. So this Frankenstein build will feature a carbon and alloy intake manifold!
Running the fuel through the Radium rail being fed by a set of 1000cc Injector Clinic injectors to be sure the engine has more than enough gas to GO!
From the stainless 3" exhaust to the custom intake...and engine mount and intercooler and ...the list goes on! But...it'll be simple in the future to do the same thing, just with all the trial and error out of the equation!
While we're at it? Going to upgrade the suspension as well....
Nothing major here for right now, but working with Drag Cartel and a few others to beef up the timing and some of the internal bolt on parts just for longevity and power handling
